Women Business Owners of Denton County will hold its monthly luncheon on Tuesday, April 7th, at Oakmont Country Club, Corinth, Texas. “Do You Know Who is Knocking at Your Door?” will be the topic of guestspeaker Lucia Bone, founder of The Sue
Weaver C.A.U.S.E., which promotes Consumer Awareness of Unsafe Service Employment.  Lucia speaks nationally to educate consumers and employers on the dangers of not knowing who you hire and the importance of proper criminal background
checks. She will share the story of her sister’s brutal rape and murder by a twice-convicted sex offender hired to do service work in her home, and give us information about how to protect ourselves and our businesses, what is proper background screening, and what consumers expect.
She says, “Just because you trust the company you hire it doesn’t mean the employees they send into your home are not convicted felons. Bonded and insured doesn’t mean a criminal background check has been performed on the worker. Many major corporations use subcontractors. You may not be hiring who you think you are hiring.”
