‘Tis the Season to Throw Parties
Christmas is right around the corner, but before we celebrate with our families, why not spread the Holiday cheer with our friends and acquaintances? These gatherings can be small and intimate or large, more formal affairs. No matter what, you’re bound to have strangers coming into your home to help you with the workload- whether it’s housecleaners, decorators, caterers, or bartenders. You may even need to rent additional tables or linens to accommodate your extra guests.
In the midst of party planning and the fury of getting everything checked off your to-do list, take a moment to think about your safety. You most likely don’t know any of these holiday helpers personally. Through the hustle and bustle of the season, we hope you’ll keep these four safety tips in mind.
- Ask your service providers about their background screening procedures. It’s ALWAYS acceptable to ask the right questions. “Do you background screen all employees, contractors & subcontractors?” “How often are they screened?” “Who should I be expecting?”
- Invite a friend over for coffee. It’s simple, but our goal at CAUSE is to ensure that you’re never home alone when a service call is made.
- Once the service professionals have left your home, make sure all windows are still properly latched (especially in restrooms) and all doors are locked correctly.
- It’s a good idea to go ahead and ditch that hide-a-key. It’s not nearly as hidden as you might think, and due to the chaos, you may not notice if it’s gone missing.
