The Sue Weaver C.A.U.S.E. organization offers these safety tips to consumers who have workers coming into their homes:
Hire C.A.U.S.E.-certified businesses, if possible.
If the company you are contacting is not C.A.U.S.E.-certified, ask if it does pre-employment criminal background checks. If not, don’t use the firm. Tell the company why you will not be using it and find one that does criminal background checks on all of its service workers.
Have another adult in the house when any kind of service is to be done.
Your children are not protection. You are actually more vulnerable if you are alone with small children because your attacker might threaten your child’s life to get your compliance.
Do not hesitate to decline the service if you do not feel safe when the worker arrives.
