Safety Tip Tuesday | December 2013 Recap
Track your packages- know when your purchases are arriving so you can prepare to remove them promptly. This time of year thieves are on the lookout for recent deliveries.
You’re most likely getting in the Holiday spirit this week, and with that comes installing Christmas lights. This is a project many leave to service providers, but do you know who they are sending to your home? Ask the company you use if they background screen all employees, contractors and subcontractors. The last thing you want is a criminal in or around your home this holiday season.
It’s the time of year when we strongly encourage our children to sit on Santa’s (a stranger) lap and hope for a smile. Sure, our kids might just have a little separation anxiety or feel shy, but their fear could also be stemming from a very good place- an inner stranger danger awareness. Value that instead of trying to push past it. Also, let’s be honest- we don’t know who this Santa is or what his past is like.
Your day after Christmas trash is a big indicator of all the nice, new gifts you received. Thieves have been known to dig through it to determine the value of what’s in your home. The best way to dispose of boxes is to drop them off at a recycling center. Use black trash bags & cut boxes down/flip them inside out to deter criminals.
